Pricing Policy:
The character of a piece of art is determined by the emotions it can stir, the memories and thoughts it provokes, the conversation it may create, or the accent it may bring to a room. Price, however, is not a defining characteristic. Although it may seem difficult to part with at the time, money is a fleeting thing. The price of a piece of art may just as easily be spent on a fancy dinner, party, or show. Or, it could be invested in something that will be part of your life for many years. The longer you live with a piece of artwork, the more a part of your life it becomes.
I am often asked how long a piece of art took. One artist's reply was, "two days and thirty years." Personally, I have never kept track. Like a surgeon, how long an operation will take is not as important as how many years of training and experience she has had.
Some paintings go rather slowly; others fall into place more rapidly. Because of this, it is my belief that the fairest way to price art is by its size. This leaves no question as to why one painting is more expensive than another.
The current price for paintings is $2.00 per square inch, not including the mat and framing dimensions. This is simply calculated by multiply the height by width by $2.00. Each year, the price per square inch is reevaluated. Any changes will be posted on the website well in advance. Most changes occur on or around February 4th.
Most artwork is museum wrapped. This means the canvas is placed on extra wide stretcher bars and painted on all the sides so no frame is required. Paintings on paper or board will be framed with a simple, yet elegant frame that does not detract from the painting. The price of the art includes shipping anywhere in the continental United States.
